The wind alert systems, based on real-time meteorological measurements, are intended to evaluate the risk of overturning or loosing control of the trajectory of a vehicle undertaking a given course. Wind alert systems are intended for operators managing roads/motorways and exposed work sites.
Meteodyn has coordinated the WEATHER programme, supported by the European Commission, in which participate : Atmos and E.M.I. (France), Nubila (Italy), Geonica and Leciñena (Spain), Campbell Scientific (UK), Alstom Transport (France), University of Birmingham and University of Nottingham (UK), Politecnico di Milano (Italy).
Meteodyn also participates in the IRCAD project (Road information in degraded atmospheric conditions), financed by the French Transport Ministry, partnered by, amongst others : INRETS (National institute for transport and transport safety), LCPC (Central bridges and road surfaces laboratory) and the General Council for Côtes d'Armor.
The purpose of all this research is the development of wind alert systems for road and rail transport.
